Volunteer Van Driver at Sussex Emmaus

What does the opportunity involve doing?

Do you have van driving experience and knowledge of the Sussex area? If so, we are looking for dedicated Van Driver Volunteers to assist us on either a 4 hour or 8 hour shift. This is a physical role working as part of a team.

Help to support the Emmaus Sussex social enterprise by carrying out deliveries and collections. If you have time to spare - we would love to hear from you.

Volunteer Duties:

Daily vehicle checks
Driving and route planning
Working with companions and volunteers
Completing paperwork for collections and deliveries
Responsible for checking secure loading
Dropping off stock at warehouse

What induction, training and support is offered?

You will be given a full induction prior to starting
Opportunity to develop your skills and experience for a worthwhile cause
You will be supported throughout your time as a volunteer
We will look to provide further training where possible.

Practical Considerations:

Bus no 1 and 1X stop close by to the Community
The closest train station is Portslade
Travel expenses to and from shifts, if required
Lunch provided alongside the community 12.30 – 1pm (or bring your own)
This is a physical role.

What skills or qualities are needed?

Van driving experience essential
Full, clean driving license
Knowledge of the local area (preferred but not essential)
Teamwork, customer service and problem-solving skills
Highly motivated, enthusiastic and a positive attitude.
