Martlets is a local charity that provides terminally ill people in Brighton and Hove, and surrounding areas, with the very best care and support. Our expert team helps patients live life to the full during the precious time they have left.
Martlets opened in 1997. The staff and services were formed from the merger of three separate charities: Coppercliff Hospice, Tarner and MacMillan Day Hospice. Across the hospice services, more than 25,000 local people have been supported and cared for since 1997.
Most people receive care from us in their own homes. Outpatients also visit our hospice for pain relief, physiotherapy, counselling, welfare advice and social activities. Others choose to spend their final days here, or to join us as inpatients for respite care or symptom management.
What does the opportunity involve doing?
Following on from the amazing popularity and success of Snowdogs by the Sea and Snailspace, this Autumn Shaun the Sheep and friends will be flocking onto the streets of Brighton and Hove. We will be selling lots of Shaun by the Sea goodies throughout the trail and will need extra support at our pop-up location and other retail stores. Our Shaun and friends’ range will include backpacks, toys and stationery for the whole family.
This role is based mainly on the shop floor and will involve:
Greeting customers and creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere
Providing assistance and asking customers if they need help or product recommendations
Serving customers on the till, handling cash and card payments
Talking about Gift Aid, explaining why it is important to the charity and helping customers sign up
Keeping the shop floor looking great by tidying counters, refilling rails and organising displays
Giving out basic trail information and signpost customers to key destinations and our trail-grazers
