Brighton Housing Trust (BHT) is a charity supporting people across Sussex who are rough sleeping, insecurely housed, struggling with debt, mental ill health or employability issues. We see it as our role to both challenge the causes of homelessness, poverty and marginalisation and to deal with the consequences.
What does the opportunity involve doing?
We are looking for volunteers to help us with our annual Christmas collection, taking place on Saturday 19 December in various locations across Brighton & Hove. The money raised goes directly towards First Base Day Centre, which offers a range of vital support to people in the city who are rough sleeping or insecurely housed.
Wrap up warm, spare a few hours, and spread some cheer. We’re also encouraging volunteers to wear something festive – a Christmas jumper, hat, tinsel, a Santa suit – it’s up to you.
The health and safety of our volunteers and the public is paramount so we will limit the number of volunteers at each site with social distancing and hygiene measures in place. We will also have contactless donation options at all collection sites so that the public can donate safely.
What induction, training and support is offered?
All the information you need will be emailed to you ahead of the event and there will be a Team Leader at each collection site who will be able to help with any further questions.
What skills or qualities are needed?
This role would suit a friendly, welcoming person who enjoys being part of a team and working within their local community.
