Woodvale Volunteer Croup CIC is a community Interest company with the aim to conserve, restore, repair and maintain property, boundaries and grounds of Cemeteries under the control of Brighton & Hove City Council. We have an emphasis on working with those who suffer a degree of Social Anxiety/Dysfunction in order to help build confidence and assertiveness.
What does the opportunity involve doing?
Do you enjoy working outside? Are you practical or easily taught? Would you like to make a difference in your community? Woodvale Volunteer Group are looking for new volunteers to join our team in Portslade Cemetery. Seasonal work includes mowing, strimming, leaf blowing, hedge trimming and other gardening work. Specialist work, for which training will be given, includes Flint Stone Walling, grave repair & maintenance. An opportunity to try your hand at something different. Superb for stress relief and company with people who are like minded.
What induction, training and support is offered?
Induction training, powered equipment training & Health and Safety training are given to every volunteer, and for those who are capable of advancement we offer training in certain skills, such as Flint Wall Building, Dead Hedging, First Aid & Group coordinator training. Other opportunities regularly become available.
What skills or qualities are needed?
No skills of qualifications are required, but the ability to learn and follow instructions, work as part of a team and as an individual, are essential.
