Fundraiser and Trustee Opportunities at Artspace Brighton

Artspace Brighton is a small established charity which supports, empowers and brings together adults experiencing mental health issues through weekly art studio sessions. We have a small, dedicated and friendly team of trustees and volunteers. Please check our website to find out more about our work, volunteers, and trustees.

What does the opportunity involve doing?

As a Trustee of Artspace you will have a commitment to the Charity and ensure that it is effectively governed in line with our mission, vision and values. We are looking for passionate individuals who can strategize and think creatively, communicate clearly, be able to bring fresh ideas, and being able to work effectively as part of our team.

Regarding trustees, we particularly welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental health issues, and/ or have CIC, charity or community outreach backgrounds, with values inline with Artspace's own.

Regarding Fundraisers, we are looking for those experienced in writing applications/ bids. We also welcome applications from those with formal fundraising training who are looking to become established in this field. We also seek those able and willing to co-ordinate small fundraising events.

We are recruiting to the following roles:
General Trustees: as part of the Board, you will determine the strategy and development of Artspace, safeguard and promote the values of the organisation, be effective, responsible and accountable as a Trustee and contribute to the Board functioning effectively.

Fundraisers: in addition to the above, you will have an overview of organisational financial activities; communicate with the Treasurer, make recommendations to the Board on funding/ financial applications, report on those applied for, and ensure that proper funding procedures are maintained.

What induction, training and support is offered?

A full induction, and introduction to the organisation, would be given.

What skills or qualities are needed?

• A commitment to the organisation, its aims, objectives, mission and values
• An understanding and empathy, and/or experienced of mental health recovery.
• Ability to take a strategic view and make appropriate judgements in the best interests of the organisation
• A commitment to understanding the legal responsibilities and devoting the time necessary to fulfil the role of a Trustee or Fundraiser.
• Excellent reflective skills on own performance and the ability to work as part of a team including supporting and respecting the contribution of other Trustees, staff, volunteers and people using Artspace services
• Excellent communication skills and a willingness to share knowledge, skills and experience with other Trustees and the Management Team
