Food Access Volunteer at Impact Initiatives

Impact Initiatives has provided a Food Access Support Service since the need for emergency food deliveries became an issue during the Covid-19 Pandemic in 2020 for people needing to isolate. We are looking for volunteers to join the team so that we can meet the needs of people who require support with food access.

The Impact Initiatives Food Access Support delivers its service with each individual’s food needs and preferences considered, where possible. Volunteers assist with emergency one-off food shops for people who are not able to get out themselves. This may be for Covid-19 reasons but we have started to offer this to a broader audience including people newly released from hospital with other medical issues.

As we move out of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are starting to offer support in building confidence to get back out to the shops and to regain independence. Volunteers will also be supporting people in this way, tailoring the service to meet the needs of individuals.

What does the opportunity involve doing?

We are looking for volunteers to shop and deliver food in the Brighton and Hove area to people in need and also to offer confidence building support to those ready to take this step.

• Do you have some free time to offer support to your local community?
• Do you have transport?
• Would you be able to help out with little notice in an emergency?

The volunteer opportunity will not be a regular weekly commitment but will be geared towards assisting those individuals in need who require a one-off urgent food shop.

As we move out of the Covid-19 pandemic, we will also want volunteers to accompany people shopping where they have not done so for a long time and need to build confidence to do so.
