Events and Fundraising Volunteer at Ronald McDonald House Charities UK

Ronald McDonald House Charities keeps families close by providing free accommodation for families when their child is seriously ill in hospital. In the Brighton House we support families who have children being treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital or the Trevor Mann Baby Unit and as well as providing a roof over their heads we provide emotional support for parents to help them navigate their way through their often scary journeys.

What does the opportunity involve doing?

We are looking for a volunteer to help with our fundraising aims within the local community. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to contribute towards raising vital funds and awareness of Ronald McDonald House Charities in the South East.

You will help towards fundraising events and activities.

Activities could include:

• Carrying out research or updating spreadsheets in Excel
• Assisting with event planning or helping out at events
• Sourcing prizes or gifts for fundraising events

What induction, training and support is offered?

The volunteer will meet the team members of the Brighton House and have a full House tour to gain a better understanding of our work. As well as a detailed explanation of the role the volunteer's line manager will regularly meet the volunteer either face-to-face or via Teams.

What skills or qualities are needed?

This volunteering opportunity would suit anyone who is well organised, proficient in Word and Excel and has excellent written and verbal communication skills. The role requires someone with a strong sense of community who is able to engage with individuals and is happy to volunteer occasionally on evenings and weekends to assist with events.

There are so many different benefits of being an Events and Fundraising Volunteer. You’ll have fun and get to meet new people in your community whilst raising vital funds and awareness for Ronald McDonald House Charities UK. You will be part of a team, helping together on fundraising ideas and events which will develop your transferable research, events and marketing skills.

We anticipate that you would need to be able to spend on average a minimum of two hours a week volunteering.
