What does the opportunity involve doing?
RISE is seeking an incredible feminist leader to guide us through our next chapter as we secure funding and raise awareness of our vital services. The Chair, alongside the Board of Trustees, ensures that RISE is well governed financially, legally, and in its safeguarding work.
We welcome applications from women with leadership experience in any sector, and especially from those with lived experience of domestic or sexual violence. We are committed to increasing the diversity of our Board.
Trustee roles are open to women only*. They are voluntary with paid expenses. You are eligible to apply if you are eighteen or over and female.
*This voluntary post is open to female applicants only in-line with RISE Memorandum and Articles of Association and the Equality Act 2010.

What induction, training and support is offered?
New trustees, including the Chair, receive a full induction to RISE’s work, governance structure, and strategic priorities. Ongoing support is provided by the CEO and fellow trustees, and training opportunities are available to strengthen governance, leadership, and sector-specific knowledge. We are committed to ensuring our Board members feel confident and well-equipped in their roles.
What skills or qualities are needed?
We’re seeking a feminist leader with strategic vision, governance experience, and a deep commitment to RISE’s mission. You’ll be an ambassador for our work, bringing knowledge, partnerships, and influence to help shape our future. A passion for ensuring survivors’ voices are heard in policy and funding decisions is essential.
We welcome applications from women with leadership experience in any sector - public, private, commercial, charitable, or youth/student organisations - and especially from those with lived experience of domestic or sexual violence.
Skills in HR, finance, or property development/management are valuable, but not essential. Above all, we’re looking for someone who embodies RISE’s values, demonstrates integrity, and inspires confidence and respect across our team.
