Allotment Support at Blatchington Court Trust

We are a charity that support young vision impaired and blind people aged 0 to thirty.

What does the opportunity involve doing?

We have a charity allotment based at Weald Allotments in Hove. We are there on most Wednesday's and Thursday's between 10am to 4pm and would love anyone to swing by for however long suits them to help out. We are looking for people to help us with watering plants, weeding, planting, building a seating area, cleaning the area as well as any fun creative ideas you have. We often have a lot of rhubarb and leafy greens and we welcome you to bring some home with you.

What induction, training and support is offered?

We provide our volunteers with an induction meeting, volunteer handbook and can provide sighted guide training if the volunteer wishes to support some of our young clients. This sighted guide training is optional, we are also happy for volunteers to just work on the gardening side to things and not have much engagement with the clients.

What skills or qualities are needed?

No skills or qualities are needed, we welcome everyone and all abilities
