Young Engineers provides STEM learning through the building of kinetic lego models within after-school club programmes at primary schools.
What does the opportunity involve doing?
Duties include handing-out of unique kit trays, helping the children complete their models and tidying-up at the end.
Full training will be provided to ensure good understanding of the topics covered and how to build and enhance the models but also safeguarding of children in after-school environments.
This is a part-time position with up to 5 afternoons a week during school terms and possibly Saturdays, and school holidays. Each session lasts between 1.25 hours to 2 hours, but homework is expected to ensure preparedness for the next day’s session, which will be paid as well as part of the session salary.
Successful candidates must be:
-Reliable, and able to work without supervision.
-Enjoy working with primary school aged children.
-Remain calm under pressure.
-Have a good understanding of mechanics and physics.
-Be good at troubleshooting model build issues.
-Not be barred from working with children.
-Commit to at least 2 school terms.
Driving licence and access to car is preferable but not essential since travel will be paid for.
