At Archway we understand that having well-kept outdoor spaces can have a great impact on Mental Health. As we are a Care Home which houses clients with Mental Health support needs, we are looking for an experienced Gardener who would like to help us maintain our lovely client garden. This is a valuable role where you can expect to make a positive difference to those suffering Mental Health struggles. Expect to be involved in the initial planning of the garden and refurbishment of plant areas and pathways. You will also maintain the hedges, plants, grass, and plant new flowers and plants.
What does the opportunity involve doing?
In this role you will be:
• Mowing, weeding, and maintaining the lawn, plant beds and pathways in the back and front gardens
• Refurbishing and painting the porch area and creating a relaxing space for clients
• Bringing your gardening expertise to the Archway team and advising on what you think is best for our garden
• Planting new flower beds, vegetables, and herbs and various plants
• Providing ongoing garden maintenance of the flower beds, grass areas, and pathways
• The opportunity to provide outdoor gardening groups to clients interested in gardening or using outdoor spaces to support wellbeing
What induction, training and support is offered?
Volunteers will be offered a full induction training by the Volunteer Lead and will have access to various trainings offered by Brighton Housing Trust.
