Engagement Coordinator at Brighton & Hove Speak Out

We are seeking to appoint a part time Engagement Coordinator to deliver a programme of engagement and consultation activity. The post holder will support people with learning disabilities to have their say about local services, how these impact on their lives and recommend changes for improvement.

Starting salary:  £26,868– £27,405 (depending on experience) pro rata plus 3% pension contribution 

Hours: 22 hours per week

Location: Flexible working including home based and at Speak Out’s office:  Brighthelm Centre, North Road, Brighton, BN1 1YD 

Brighton and Hove Speak Out is a dynamic local advocacy charity. We support people with learning disabilities to have a voice and choice and control over their lives through providing a range of advocacy services and community projects.   

About the role

We are seeking to appoint a part time Engagement Coordinator to deliver a programme of engagement and consultation activity. The post holder will support people with learning disabilities to have their say about local services, how these impact on their lives and recommend changes for improvement.

The role involves organising outreach and consultation on a range of issues. The post holder will support a group of self-advocates (the Link Group) to take part in planning, running and reporting to the Learning Disability Partnership Board. 

The Post Holder will also support health advocacy, training and awareness raising via the ‘Thumbs Up’ campaign, led by a group of Speak Out members who are trainers and experts by experience.

The successful candidate will need excellent communication and organisational skills, including report writing, and will be able to manage a complex workload. Experience of advocacy and/or group work with vulnerable clients is essential. Knowledge of learning disability services and experience of working with people with learning disabilities is an advantage.
