Parental Mental Health Worker at West Sussex Mind

Salary: £14,506.96 per annum (FTE £29,406 *pay award pending for April 26 onwards)

Hours: Part Time - 18.5 hours per week

Contract: Fixed term contract to end of June 2028

Location: Worthing base with the expectation for some travel across Arun, Worthing and Adur

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days per year rising to 27 days after 2 years (pro-rata)

Overview:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Families in Mind team, supporting the mental health and wellbeing of parents and carers of young children focused on the Worthing area.

This is a rewarding community-based role where you will work directly with families, helping them build resilience, improve wellbeing, and access the support they need.

We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual with experience in mental health and family support. You may come from a background such as counselling, teaching, social work or early years, or have gained relevant experience through other professional or lived pathways.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

Build and maintain strong relationships with community groups and services supporting families
Plan and deliver engaging face-to-face and virtual group sessions and courses
Provide time-limited, recovery-focused 1:1 support (in person, by phone, or video) to develop strategies to manage challenges with accessing group support
Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to provide holistic support
Use digital tools and systems to record, monitor and share information effectively
About You

We are looking for someone who is:

A confident communicator with strong facilitation and group work skills
Compassionate, reliable, and committed to supporting families
Able to work independently while also collaborating effectively with others
Motivated to learn, develop, and reflect on their practice
Working Pattern

Groups and meetings are currently held Tuesday to Thursday
The role is primarily delivered during school hours
We offer flexibility in working patterns, including occasional weekend work to support community events
