Volunteer Lead Trustee for Safeguarding at Sussex Emmaus

What does the opportunity involve doing?

Could you use your safeguarding knowledge and experience to help make a meaningful difference to people affected by homelessness?

Sussex Emmaus is looking for a volunteer Lead Trustee for Safeguarding to join our Board and provide leadership, oversight and constructive challenge on safeguarding matters.

The Lead Trustee for Safeguarding will work collectively with the Board to ensure Sussex Emmaus is well governed, financially sustainable and able to deliver its charitable purposes for public benefit. They will provide support, advice and guidance to the Board on safeguarding governance, helping ensure that safeguarding remains an integral part of our culture, decision-making and strategic planning.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with safeguarding knowledge and experience, although we would also welcome applications from Trustees who are willing to undertake appropriate safeguarding training and ongoing development.

You will:
Act as a key point of contact for the Board on safeguarding governance and oversight.
Provide advice, support and constructive challenge to the Board and, where appropriate, senior leaders on safeguarding matters.
Help ensure safeguarding is embedded within the organisation’s strategy, policies, procedures, risk management and decision-making.
Support the Board in understanding its safeguarding responsibilities and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Review safeguarding risks and provide appropriate assurance to the Bo
