Volunteer Bike Mechanic at Brighton Bike Hub

We’re a volunteer-run project, off Brighton’s Lewes Road, working to enable members of the community to access affordable cycling by providing:

-Free access to tools and workshop space for DIY repairs (donations appreciated)

-Affordable new and used parts

-Advice and support from our volunteer team

-A choice of second-hand bikes at bargain prices

What does the opportunity involve doing?

We are looking for volunteers who can spare a three hours a week and are keen to expand their knowledge of bike mechanics. The role involves helping fix up donated bikes and helping customers with fixing up their own bikes. In return you'll join a friendly team, learn new skills and have the opportunity to attend fully funded volunteer socials. Full training is provided.

What induction, training and support is offered?

We start with an induction and will then put you onto a shift with another volunteer who can show you the ropes. We also have free bi-monthly training sessions where you can learn more about bike mechanics.

What skills or qualities are needed?

There are no previous skills or experience necessary, apart from an interest in learning about bikes and bike repairs.
