The Trustee Treasurer is a member of the Board of Trustees and shares collective
responsibility for ensuring that Sussex Emmaus fulfils its charitable purpose, acts in
the best interests of its beneficiaries, and safeguards its assets and reputation. The
The role requires the Trustee Treasurer to act reasonably, prudently and with integrity in all
matters relating to the charity, supporting the Board to make well-informed decisions
and ensure the organisation is run sustainably.
In addition to the general duties of a trustee, the Treasurer has specific responsibility
for providing financial oversight, assurance and challenge. This includes monitoring
financial probity, supporting the timely filing of accounts, and helping ensure
compliance with statutory, regulatory and internal financial requirements.
