Emmaus has a unique combination of companions, employees, trustees and volunteers. People from different backgrounds who all work alongside each other towards the same goal - to fight homelessness and inequality.
We support people to work their way out of homelessness, providing a purpose as well as a stable home for as long as someone needs it.
What does the opportunity involve doing?
Sussex Emmaus is looking for retail volunteers with an interest in retro and vintage furniture, bric-a-brac and collectibles to assist in our newly relaunched emporium on our bustling site in Portslade Old Village.
The role will involve:
Customer service
Till operation
Researching prices online, learning about historical items
Working as part of a team consisting of staff, volunteers and companions
Visual merchandising
General housekeeping of the shop: dusting, sweeping, and overseeing the displays.
Volunteer shifts between 10:00 am -15:00 pm (minimum of 4 hours)
Preferred days – Saturdays (but any day between Tuesday and Saturday is welcome!)
Over 18 years old only

Please note: Due to working alongside companions, ALL volunteers are required to complete a DBS check prior to joining Sussex Emmaus.
