Fundraising Volunteer at Possability People

What does the opportunity involve doing?

Fundraising volunteers support Possability People’s fundraising activities by helping us build relationships with supporters and raise the funds that allow us to continue supporting disabled people. This is a varied role, with opportunities to get involved in community fundraising, events and behind-the-scenes administration.

You may support fundraising events by helping with set up, welcoming attendees, collecting donations and helping activities run smoothly. You may also help manage our collection pots by distributing, collecting and recording donations from local businesses and community venues.

The role can also include administrative support such as monitoring the fundraising inbox, updating records, preparing fundraising materials and helping the Fundraising Officer keep supporter information organised.

Fundraising volunteers act as ambassadors for Possability People, helping us build positive relationships with supporters, community groups and local organisations. Whether you enjoy meeting people, supporting events or helping with organisation behind the scenes, there are different ways to get involved and make a difference.

What induction, training and support is offered?

Before starting in the role, you will receive an induction to Possability People, our values, services and ways of working. You will also receive an introduction to our fundraising activities, systems and processes, including the support you need to feel confident carrying out your role.

You will receive ongoing support from the Fundraising Officer, including guidance, regular check-ins and opportunities to ask questions as you develop your skills. You will be supported to understand our fundraising activities, engage with supporters and represent Possability People in the community.

We will provide any training needed for the activities you are involved in, whether that is supporting events, handling donations, using our systems or carrying out fundraising administration.

Volunteers also have access to a range of free training opportunities, including disability equality, confidence building, computer skills and customer service.

What skills or qualities are needed?

We are looking for volunteers who are:

• Friendly, approachable and comfortable meeting and speaking with new people
• Positive and enthusiastic, with an interest in supporting a local charity
• Reliable and able to make a regular commitment
• Good communicators, both in person and in writing
• Organised and able to manage different tasks and priorities
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Confident engaging with members of the public, supporters, community groups and local businesses
• Happy to help with a range of activities, from events and collections to administration tasks
• Able to use basic computer systems, including email and Microsoft Office (training can be provided)
• Able to handle information appropriately and maintain confidentiality
• Willing to learn and try new things
• Committed to creating a more equal and accessible society for disabled people

Experience of fundraising, events, customer service or administration is useful, but not essential. We are looking for people who share our values, enjoy working with others and want to help make a difference in their local community.
