We work closely with community groups to shape sessions that feel welcoming, accessible and relevant to their members. Our aim is to create positive experiences in nature that help people feel relaxed, build confidence, and inspire future connections with the natural world.
Your group could:
• Join a practical conservation session and help care for the reserve by helping to clear scrub, plant trees and wildflowers, or build steps and benches
• Take part in guided wildlife activities such as nature walks or pond dipping and learn more about the toads, badgers and hedgehogs that call The Deneway home
• Learn bushcraft skills, such as fire-lighting
• Host a wellbeing, social, or community session
• Use the site for a bespoke activity that introduces your group to nature on their terms
• Simply enjoy exclusive access to a peaceful green space away from the pressures of everyday life
Here’s what you can expect of the site on your visit:
• Exclusive use of a reserve during booked sessions
• Space for groups of up to 15 participants
• Flexible sessions lasting between 1 and 3 hours
• Support from a Sussex Wildlife Trust staff member
• Locked reserve, with no dogs on site
• Mainly flat and even paths throughout the reserve
• A composting toilet on site
• Wet-weather shelter
• Tea and coffee facilities
• Campfire and outdoor cooking opportunities
There is free on-street parking near the reserve, including a disabled parking spot 100m from the entrance. Several bus stops are close to the reserve, and Preston Park train station is a 20-minute walk. Where travel is a barrier, we may be able to offer support with transport to the site.
