Senior Practitioner – Youth Groups and Coaching at Allsorts

The Senior Practitioner - Youth Coaching and Schools leads Allsorts coaching service, supporting LGBTQ+ children and young people across Sussex reach their goals and recognise their strengths. The post also leads our schools programme, working with colleagues to help schools and colleges in Sussex welcome and support their LGBTQ+ students. This role forms part of the leadership team in Allsorts Youth and Education Service, and plays a vital role in supporting LGBTQ+ youth to thrive.

The Senior Practitioner (Youth Coaching and Schools) is responsible for delivering Allsorts’ youth coaching programme for children and young people, ensuring high-quality, inclusive and responsive provision. They will manage a small team of Youth Coaches, providing the supervision, guidance and leadership needed to maintain high quality support for children and young people. This role also leads Allsorts' inclusion work with schools, building a network of partner schools across Sussex, providing training and workshops for school staff and children and young people. This part of the role also includes leadership of Allsorts Summer Programme, developing and overseeing the delivery of a programme of engaging summer activities for LGBTQ+ children and young people.

The Senior Practitioner (Youth Coaching and Schools) is accountable for developing and maintaining strong relationships with schools, local authorities and partner organisations to expand Allsorts’ reach and impact. As a member of the Youth and Education Service leadership team they are responsible for maintaining high standards of safeguarding and record-keeping as well as contributing to ongoing monitoring, evaluation and impact reporting.

Job Description
Leadership
Lead on the development and delivery of Allsorts Youth Coaching and Schools Programmes.
With the Youth and Education Service - Senior Practitioner (Youth Groups) and the Youth and Education Service Manager, provide high-quality leadership to Allsorts Youth and Education Service.

Supervision
Line-manage a small team of Youth Coaches, including supervision, support, learning and development and performance management.
Ensure the youth coaching team is confident and capable working across a range of topics that are relevant to LGBTQ+ young people.
Deliver quarterly supervision and annual appraisals to staff.

Youth Coaching
Deliver coaching sessions that support young people to reach or move towards their goals, and recognise their own strengths and achievements.
Cover a range of topics including sexual health, relationships, self-esteem, identity, communication, and emotional wellbeing.
Help young people develop practical life skills, including decision-making, problem-solving, time management, communication, and resilience-building.
Liaise with Allsorts youth group workers and with the Parent and Carers Service to provide a joined-up service and ensure consistent, holistic support for young people.
Liaise with external professionals to enhance support for young people.

Schools Programme
Market and oversee the delivery of Allsorts schools programme, including School Contracts.
Explore new opportunities with local authorities, schools and colleges to expand Allsorts' reach.
Oversee the delivery of schools work, including schools’ youth coaching referrals and the delivery of LGBTQ+ inclusion workshops and assemblies.

Summer Programme
Oversee the planning and delivery of school holiday programmes in response to emerging needs, seasonal themes and young people’s input.
Work collaboratively with local and regional youth organisations to ensure a range of opportunities are available to LGBTQ+ young people in the school holidays.

Monitoring & Evaluation
Maintain professional and confidential records, in line with data protection and safeguarding requirements
Contribute to funder impact reports by gathering case studies and success stories.

Safeguarding and compliance
Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, ensuring the safety and welfare of young people at all times in line with Allsorts policies.
Attend mandatory safeguarding training and refresher sessions, as well as other relevant staff development and learning sessions.
Adhere to & implement the policies and procedures of Allsorts Youth Project.

All staff may be asked to undertake other duties and responsibilities as determined by the management team, on an occasional basis. On occasion, you may be required to facilitate groups/sessions on your own where risk assessments allow
