Community Projects Worker at The Hangleton and Knoll Project

You will build warm, friendly relationships with residents, organise community learning opportunities and activities focused on health and wellbeing, and support a wide range of events across the community. Community Projects Worker – West Area
Location: Based at St Richard’s Community Centre, Egmont Road,
Hove, BN3 7FP. Working in the West of Brighton & Hove
Hours: 21 hours per week worked flexibly over 4 days
Contract: One Year Fixed term, with the possibility of extension
Salary: is fixed at £31, 537 per annum

Purpose of the role
1. To work as part of the Hangleton and Knoll Project’s Community Development team, working with residents and groups to deliver community projects including associated administration tasks.
2. To develop relationships, and support groups and activities with a focus on community learning and health projects.

Main responsibilities
1. To take part in a range of consultation and evaluation activities, including door-knocking, attending meetings and working with service providers.
2. To organise community learning workshops and courses in partnership with residents and service providers and demonstrate their impact.
3. To develop and cascade communications across all platforms to increase community engagement, including use of programmes such as Canva.
4. To organise and facilitate meetings, sessions and projects including taking bookings, organising refreshments and setting up community spaces.
5. To support individuals’ participation and engagement in all forms of community activity.
6. To work collaboratively with other members of the project’s Community Development, IT, Learning and Youth work teams, developing joint work with other colleagues.
7. To facilitate and maintain partnerships between the community and service providers.
8. To keep accurate and up-to-date records of all projects worked on to measure outcomes and progress.
9. To participate in appropriate staff development and training.
10. To adhere to the Project's Equal Opportunities Policy and Anti- Discrimination Statement. 11. To undertake all other reasonable tasks and responsibilities as requested by the Project’s management.

The post-holder will be supported in delivering all the above by their Line Manager and regular supervision sessions will be provided.

Conditions
The worker will be employed under the Hangleton & Knoll Project's normal conditions and Contract of Employment for a fixed term period. The hours of work will be 21 hours a week including unsocial hours (evening and occasional weekends) will be a necessary requirement of the post.
Holiday entitlement is 25 days a year plus 3 extra days at Christmas, plus bank holidays (all pro-rata). There is no facility for "overtime pay", instead time off in lieu (TOIL) is negotiated. Hours worked are as flexible as possible to suit the needs of the community and the post-holder.
