Autistic woman seeking ad-hoc PA for advocacy in Hove at PA and advocacy Services

This is an ad hoc PA and advocate support role for a 39 year old autistic woman with mental health needs in Hove (right by the town hall). I value someone empathetic, punctual and reliable to help me access GP and well being hub services locally to me once a week as and when needed. This role would suit someone based close by who could easily be available flexibly for 2 to 3 afternoons/ evenings per week (but you will be only needed once a week).

We will respond to all emails within a few days from writing to us and will not wait until after the deadline.

I love line dancing, singing in a choir and photography and I work part time in a library. I am only looking for someone who is registered self employed and flexibly available for ad-hoc support.

I'm based by Hove town hall, 10 mins from Hove Station and on lots of bus routes. Blue badge available if you happen to have a car.

This is an ad-hoc, flexible role for once a week but you will need to be available to be called for work on one of 2-3 afternoons/ evenings a week (to suit you) between 3pm and 8pm or around your current schedule. There will be one shift of up to 2 hours per week to meet distress experienced in the moment and will need you to accompany me to the GP or a local well-being hub.

If you wish instead that this would work best for you as a weekly commitment, I’d be happy to discuss this.

Key tasks:
The PA must be comfortable speaking up for me and helping me access services for support, such as telephone or in person mental health urgent support. Any experience supporting people in distress or with neuro-divergence would be ideal for this role but not mandatory.

Opportunity to attend a 3-month online and CPD certified (and paid for) training on autism awareness/ mental health first aid/ counselling skills will be offered to the right candidate, that will also enhance your job prospects.

You must feel able to advocate for my needs and to take charge of getting services to meet my autistic specific adaptations and needs. The only task required is to help me get my needs met and voice heard when accessing support and then afterwards to help me follow the advice given in these interactions by the professional.

No personal care, cleaning or housework are required.
Preference for those who are registered self employed.
