About the Role
Develop Outdoors CIC is seeking a motivated and creative Lead Tutor to deliver high-quality Vocational Learning Programmes to small groups of young people aged 11–16.
This role combines:
-Delivery of Functional Skills (Entry 3–Level 1) using structured programmes and resources
-Delivery of independent living and personal development units, including healthy living, communication, confidence, and career aspirations
You will support learners with SEMH needs, helping them re-engage with education in a positive, structured, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
-Deliver Functional Skills sessions (English & Maths), following a programme of learning and adapting to meet individual needs
-Plan and deliver independent living skills sessions, including:
-Healthy eating and lifestyle
-Communication and confidence building
-Career aspirations and personal development
-Support learners to achieve accredited outcomes, gathering and recording evidence
-Differentiate learning and respond to individual needs and interests
-Build positive relationships with young people, families, and partner schools
-Track progress, set achievable targets, and celebrate success
-Complete daily reports and termly summaries
-Manage behaviour appropriately and record incidents in line with procedures
-Support transport arrangements where required
What We’re Looking For
A Tutor who is:
-Proactive, adaptable, and well-organised
-Confident delivering or following Functional Skills programmes
-Comfortable delivering independent living and personal development topics
-Skilled at engaging young people who may have disengaged from education
Essential Requirements
-Enhanced DBS
-Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in Teaching, Coaching, Youth Work or similar
-Experience delivering or supporting delivery of learning programmes
-Strong communication and organisational skills
-Ability to document learner progress and evidence for accreditation
-Full driving licence and access to a vehicle (business insurance required)
Desirable
-Experience working with SEND / SEMH learners
-Experience delivering Functional Skills or ability to follow a structured programme of learning
-Experience delivering independent living skills to young people
-Experience supporting independent travel skills
