We are a hosting scheme. We train and support volunteer hosts, who are ordinary individuals or families with a spare bedroom, to welcome a survivor of modern slavery into their homes, preventing homelessness and re-trafficking.
Modern slavery takes many forms. Individuals are often trafficked, and experience the trauma of sexual exploitation, forced labour, criminal exploitation or domestic servitude.
When a survivor of modern slavery manages to escape their exploitation, they often experience homelessness and poverty and are vulnerable to re-trafficking and further exploitation.
Without a safe place to live, survivors remain at risk.
We offer full support and training to our hosts, equipping them to welcome a survivor and share their spare bedroom, for an agreed time and with our help. We never drop a guest and run โ in fact, we take care as a hosting scheme to match our hosts and guests carefully, and we are with you throughout every step of your hosting journey.

Could you host - for an agreed time and with our full support? Our hosts receive:
๐ก Full training and refresher training

๐ก Safeguarding checks and support
๐ก Ongoing practical and emotional help

Together, we can change her story.
What induction, training and support is offered?
At Hope at Home, we know just how important it is that our hosts are properly trained and supported.
Before you host, we run two host training sessions, as well as offering refresher training while in placement, on various topics such as modern slavery and human trafficking, being trauma-informed and your role and expectations. You will also be allocated a Hosting Coordinator, who will support you every step of the way. We also provide expenses, to help cover extra costs of hosting.
All our guests receive specialised support from external agencies, so your role is to provide a warm and welcoming space, for a set period of time, with our support.
What skills or qualities are needed?
All those who are empathetic, kind-hearted and supportive are encouraged to apply. We don't expect you to have any prior knowledge or specialist understanding, just a dedication to helping those in need, and the ability to support yourself and maintain boundaries in the process. We are here for you, and provide lots of support for both hosts and guests to make sure your placement works for you both.
