Volunteer Drivers, Cat Pen Support Workers, Fundraisers and Lost and Found admin roles at Lost Cats Brighton

Lost Cats Brighton is a registered charity, run by a small team of dedicated volunteers committed to reuniting lost cats from Brighton and Hove and the surrounding areas, via a free online 'Lost, Found and Reunited' register on our website and via our Facebook page.

The charity is also committed to helping unowned cats and those who need to be rehomed in the Brighton and Hove area. Our cats are fostered short-term in private homes prior to finding them a permanent home.

All our adult cats are neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and receive flea and worming treatments and any other veterinary treatment required whilst in our care.

Lost Cats Brighton also aims to educate the public in feline welfare via the sharing of information about topics such as neutering and microchipping.

What does the opportunity involve doing?

If you’re able to donate some time to help Lost Cats Brighton, we’d love to hear from you. We’re particularly looking for people who can help during the daytime Monday - Friday.

* Drivers for occasional trips to deliver food or take cats to the vet
* Home/desk-based helpers to assist with our online Lost and Found register. Weekdays, evening and Sunday slots available.
* Fundraisers
* Cat Pen Support Workers - daytimes, particularly Tuesday and Saturday.

If you can give some time to volunteer, you’ll be helping to make sure we can keep looking after cats in need throughout 2025! Please get in touch if you would like more information.

What induction, training and support is offered?

Full training and support will be given for each role.

For volunteers supporting with our Lost and Found register, in this role we work remotely from home and the volunteers help with the website, Facebook and emails enquiries. In summary, we share news about lost and found cats across Brighton, Hove and the surrounding areas and we provide advice to people who have lost or found a cat.

Volunteer Drivers - if supporting to take a cat to the vet, drivers will be accompanied to the vet by one of our welfare volunteers.

If you are keen to know more about any of these opportunities, please go to our website and find the 'Volunteering' page. Select the role you are interested in (more than one is fine) and complete the online Enquiry Form.

Once we receive your form, one of our volunteers will be in touch to arrange a face to face meeting where we can get to know more about you and answer any questions you may have. If both parties are happy to proceed, we then provide training on our systems and shadowing days to cover experienced volunteers.

What skills or qualities are needed?

A love of cats is essential.

Our volunteers will be working with the general public and therefore must be polite and respectful of others.

Our volunteers need to be team players with a willingness to adhere to the systems, beliefs and values of Lost Cats Brighton.

As a registered charity we are an inclusive organisation and we encourage applications from across society. We are committed to building an organisation which welcomes everyone. What is important is a willingness to learn, reliability and being a team player.
