Communications & Marketing Manager

You will be responsible for overseeing our communications and marketing including event planning and management for internal and external events. You will plan and implement our marketing and advertising campaigns and be experienced in using a broad range of social media platforms and tools. We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the Community Base team in the heart of Brighton and Hove. Working with our team you will be key in raising Community Base’s profile and presence in Brighton and Hove.
Community Base is a charity providing a home for community and voluntary groups in Brighton and Hove and services to the local community. We use income from affordable services, including the provision of office space and the use of our South Wing meeting rooms, to repay a mortgage on our accessible seven floor building a few minutes from Brighton station and meet our running costs.

You will be responsible for overseeing our communications and marketing including event planning and management for internal and external events. You will plan and implement our marketing and advertising campaigns and be experienced in using a broad range of social media platforms and tools.
The role will be carried out within the framework of the organisation’s policies and procedures.
You will report to the Director of Community Base.

Key tasks and responsibilities

• Creating event proposals that are relevant to tenants and other interested parties
• Producing effective marketing materials for each event, in appropriate formats including print, social media and other digital or online presentations for each event
• Preparing compelling press releases
• Planning event aspects, such as venue, seating arrangements, guest lists and guest speakers
• Managing events on “the day”- for example, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with staff and customers, and organising vendors
• Creating and rolling out an annual programme of events
• Creating a newsletter, to be published and dispersed monthly
• Developing and implementing marketing plans and projects for the organisation
• Monitoring, reviewing and drafting reports on all marketing activity and results
• Investigating and analysing current market conditions and competitor information
• Maintaining an adequate stock of promotional materials
• Planning and attending relevant meetings and external events by identifying, assembling, and coordinating requirements; establishing contacts; developing schedules and assignments; coordinating mailing lists.
• Monitoring and working within financial budgets

• Prioritising multiple tasks so all deadlines are met
• Anticipating and responding to unplanned circumstances
• Day to day social media over several platforms
• Liaising with website designer and colleagues around website development
• Updating job knowledge by participating in training opportunities
• Liaising effectively with any job share partner, so that all relevant tasks are fully completed and avoiding work duplication
• Carrying out any additional duties that may be reasonably expected to fulfil the role and support other members of the team.
