Pelican Parcels takes pre-loved and new item donations for babies and children up to age 12 and redistributes these to families facing financial hardship via various existing family services in Brighton & Hove in Sussex.
What does the opportunity involve doing?
Volunteer tasks vary but may include:
Quality checking clothing, bedlinen, toys, books and other donation items.
Cleaning and safety checking prams, beds and highchairs.
Greeting people bringing their donations and family service staff when they come to collect an order.
We are open from Monday to Thursday from 10am till 2pm. Our volunteer hours are flexible – at least 2 hours once a week between 10am – 2pm from Mondays to Thursdays.
What induction, training and support is offered?
You will be provided with training from the Volunteer Coordinator and Head of Operations, with an induction day of lasting two hours.
What skills or qualities are needed?
Role requirements:
Positive can-do attitude
Ability to work with other volunteers
Ability to listen to and follow instructions
An interest in helping local families experiencing financial hardship
Appreciation and respect of the confidential nature of information that may be acquired during course of duties
