Grassroots is a UK leader in suicide prevention. We support people to develop the skills and confidence needed to save lives. Formed in 2006, we work locally and nationally with communities, organisations and individuals, helping them to support others at risk of suicide. Our training, awareness raising, and digital tools help save lives by enabling the kind of conversations that make a real difference.
Grassroots core beliefs about suicide and suicide prevention:
Suicide is a community health problem
Thoughts of suicide are understandable, complex and personal
Suicide can be prevented
Help-seeking is encouraged by open, direct and honest talk about suicide
Suicide intervention skills are known and can be learned
Large numbers of people can be taught suicide intervention skills
What does the opportunity involve doing?
The Board of Trustees are responsible for the overall governance, financial health and strategic direction of Grassroots. They are also responsible for the integrity of its activities and for developing the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals in accordance with Grassroots’ governing document, and with legal and regulatory guidelines.
Grassroots is seeking new Trustees to strengthen the existing board, through developing its skill base and increasing the diversity of its membership. We want to ensure our leadership encompasses a wide and balanced range of experience, skills and knowledge, which will enable our charity to continue to grow and flourish.
