We help people living in poverty. We believe the concept of need is broader than financial hardship, so visiting people who are sick, lonely, in prison, or suffering from addiction forms a significant proportion of our work.
What does the opportunity involve doing?
During the lockdown, everyone’s had time to de-junk and clear out their cluttered cupboards and the under beds! We need volunteers to come and help us turn unwanted items into opportunities for the most vulnerable in our communities. Come and support our efforts in reducing poverty by joining us as a volunteer in our shop. You could be serving our loyal and supportive customers or helping to process donations and creating eye-catching displays.
Volunteering is a great way to meet new friends and give something back to your community. It’s also a great opportunity for people who are furloughed to get back into a working environment/routine.
What induction, training and support is offered?
New volunteers get trained on activities on tasks that suit their interests and skills, such as sorting donations, pricing items, creating displays or serving customers. Support is provided by an established and friendly team of people and Ursula who manages the shop.
