Sessional Youth Support at Brighton Youth Centre

What does the opportunity involve doing?

To be part of a team that inspire young people to learn about themselves and others and build great lives by providing a dynamic Youth Centre that listens to Young People from across the City and works with them to provide space, training, activities, support and services that are relevant and accessible and enable creativity, learning, fun, friendship and relaxation. We are looking for individuals to join our team on Tuesday evenings 6:30pm-9:30pm, Wednesday evenings 6:30-9:30pm and the last Friday of every month for events 6:00-10:30pm.

What induction, training and support is offered?

You will work in a supportive team, receive induction training, other necessary training opportunities & regular group supervision

What skills or qualities are needed?

Experience

Skate/Arts/Sports workers will require experience in their specific area,: experience

of working with children/young people in a youth work or similar setting would be

helpful for all volunteers.

Skills, abilities and knowledge

Ability to work cooperatively in a team.

Good interpersonal communication skills, including listening, negotiation and dealing with conflict.

Ability to build relationship of trust with young people and colleagues.

Understanding of the issues facing young people in today’s society.

A commitment to ensuring that practice is based on the principles of inclusion and diversity.

Ability to realise imaginative ideas for youth centre/project programmes.

Energy and Enthusiasm and a commitment to learn.
