growing vegetables on an allotment for our charity supporting food banks at Nurture Through Nature

The purpose of our organisation is to address food poverty in the City of Brighton and Hove, by growing and supplying fresh allotment produce to food banks and community centres.

The food we grow is donated to the Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project and the Brighton and Hove City Mission food bank. We also collect unwanted produce from other growers at the Moulsecoomb Allotments.

We have community plots at the Moulsecoomb Allotments and we run volunteering groups on Mon and Fri from 9.30am - 2.30pm.

What does the opportunity involve doing?

We welcome adults (over 18's only) wanting to learn how to grow vegetables outdoors in the fresh air with a friendly team. No previous experience of gardening is required. We will make sure that tasks suit your health and abilities.

What induction, training and support is offered?

All volunteers receive an induction on their first day and ongoing informal training and support from the group facilitator.

What skills or qualities are needed?

None required, although volunteers must have a reasonable level of fitness.
