Support Coordinator at Turning Tides

Established in 1991, Turning Tides is a community-led charity dedicated to ending homelessness. We empower homeless or insecurely housed individuals to achieve sustainable independent living. We have gone from supporting a handful of people in the coastal town of Worthing to providing a range of services to over 1,700 people in Worthing, Adur, Littlehampton, Horsham and Mid-Sussex. We have over 5,000 supporters, 300 volunteers and 100 staff members.

We believe that everyone has the right to a home, regardless of the difficulties and issues they may face in their lives. We believe in showing people who need our help that they are not alone, that the wider community is there to support them and offer hope for a better future.

Following a successful partnership bid with Adur & Worthing Council to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG), we are seeking to recruit to a Support Coordinator for Worthing.

The Support Coordinator, works within the Multi-disciplinary Team and accommodation services, to provide holistic wraparound support to 8-10 individuals, experiencing multiple difficulties/exclusions and with a history of long-term rough sleeping. The Support Coordinator role adopts Strength Based, Housing First principles to help people navigate local service provision and effect system change, utilizing the MEAM (Making Every Adult Matter) approach.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, promote self-advocacy/choice/dignity and have the ability to use a strength-based approach to build and sustain meaningful working relationships with people from a variety of background.

This role will also focus on supporting those placed in housing through the Housing First Model and supporting those in temporary accommodation and Turning Tides accommodation who experience multiple difficulties/exclusions.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference to vulnerable people’s lives within our communities through developing our support co-ordination, Housing First offer and service provision in Adur & Worthing
