The focus of your work will be the planning and delivery of outreach work with people from Terrence Higgins Trust’s target communities. In particular, you will co-ordinate the delivery of direct contact and resource based sexual health promotion and HIV prevention activity taking place outside of the office base including line management of a small team of outreach officers and volunteers working across Brighton & Hove.
You will also lead on the coordination and planning of community health promotion and fundraising events e.g. World AIDS Day, Brighton LGBT Pride, Trans Pride, Brighton&Hove STI testing week and National HIV Testing Week.
You’ll have a good understanding of the issues relating to HIV infection and poor sexual health and also knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men and other higher risk adults in relation to HIV and sexual health promotion.
Terrence Higgins Trust was set up in 1982 following the death of its namesake Terry Higgins, who was one of the very first people to die of an AIDS-related illness in the UK. As an organisation we are always aiming to ensure we are always meeting the needs of people affected by HIV and poor sexual health.More info
