Mankind sexual abuse counsellors work with male* clients who are survivors of sexual abuse. A very small proportion of client cases are family and friends of male survivors.
Mankind offers a staged therapeutic program consisting of 24 weeks of counselling, a 10 week Psycho-educational Group and a 20 week Progress Group (after counselling).
Mankind has developed its own ‘Way of Working’ document that address specific issues in working with men who have experienced sexual abuse trauma.
We do not specify any particular counselling modality but expect counsellors to incorporate the fundamentals of the 3 stage trauma model (Herman, 1992)
This is a multidisciplinary role requiring skills and experience in online counselling, remote working, outcome monitoring and general admin.
The post-holder will be required to use a variety of monitoring systems to demonstrate client progress and evidence outcomes to funders. The main system used is CORE (Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation) alongside the Impact of Events Scale - Revised (IES-R) and an in-house feedback evaluation form.
