Dear friends, we have the pleasure of inviting you to our next film screening.
On Tuesday 11th February 2020, from 7pm to 9pm, we will be screening the film “In Guerra per Amore” (At War for Love”) at our new regular venue, the SEAS Studio (BMECP Centre, 10A Fleet Street, Brighton, BN1 4ZE).
** Doors open from 6.30pm**
In our city and almost everywhere around the world, we have been witnessing an increasingly and aggressively commercialised culture of expressing love to the loved one by the way of buying expensive presents or treats on Valentine’s Day.
We thought we should perhaps express our counter narrative by screening a film about true love. A person truly in love can even cross oceans to express their love – without having to buy expensive presents for the loved one. So here is “In Guerra per Amore” (At War for Love”), a brilliant comedy-romance film from Italy. The renowned comedian and satirist PIF (Pierfrancesco Diliberto, director of popular titles such as “Mafia only Kills in Summer”) wears two hats in this film: as the director and the lead actor.
The film tells us about the perils of a world war, shadow of mafia lingering on people of Sicily, the beautiful landscape and scenery, regional culture and humour, and most important of all: the power of love.
Language: Italian, English
Subtitles: English, Italian
Running time: 99 minutes.
P.S. We love you.
After the film screening, all guests will receive a free Valentine’s Day present from the Euro-Mernet team – as a token of how much we love you and care for you, wonderful members of our beautifully diverse communities. Please don’t worry, none of the presents were purchased for Valentine’s Day, no carbon footprint crimes committed – and no cats were harmed! Some parts of the presents were produced/created during the past EuroMernet events and some parts are handmade by the EuroMernet team.
Best wishes from all of us here.
