Brighton People’s Theatre present Born and Bread, 30 September & 1 October 2023.
“When I first moved to Brighton, everything seemed perfect. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and everyone was smiling, but now I’ve lived here for a bit, now I see. That’s just a load of ****.”
Down from London, Amina’s moved to Whitehawk with her daughter, Darya. She’s doing everything she can to settle in Brighton, but whenever she looks out at the sea, it doesn’t feel like… home.
Join Amina as she takes a chance and accepts an invitation to the community kitchen, a place filled with boisterous bakers, potential friends, real magic, and sweet, sour and salty stories. It’s here that Amina might finally be able to say what’s been troubling her out loud.
In 2022 Brighton People’s Theatre had conversations with over 100 people across the City about food, belonging and what it means to call Brighton ‘home’. Born and Bread is a fictional story inspired by these conversations and performed by 28 Brighton-based non-professional actors.
When: Saturday 30 September & Sunday 1 October 2023, 3.30 pm & 8 pm
